Damn, Zippy!
Zippy, also known as Olive, works and lives primarily in Portland Oregon. The main focus of tattooing for her is having FUN - what evokes that for her is cartoons and movies from the 80’s and 90’s, kids’ stuff, bold lines, bright colors, and also looking a little deeper, weirder, and perhaps trippier into the things that bring us joy and comfort.
FAQs
Where are you located?
I work out of YES Tattoo which is located in the Foster/Powell neighborhood of Portland Oregon. I typically take appointments on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
Are your books open?
Almost always! I’m always interested in talking to you about what you are looking to get tattooed - I try to only book out 90 days in advance, but if you are planning a trip from out of town I will try to be accommodating.
What are your rates?
I typically charge by piece unless we are doing large-scale projects - this is how I break it down:
Minimum: $200
Palm-size: $250-$350
Hand-size: $350-$450
Larger scale: $200/hr
If you want a more specific quote, please feel free to reach out!
Why do I have to put down a deposit?
I require a $100 non-refundable deposit in order to secure your appointment - this is an incentive for clients to show up and assures that my time isn’t wasted.
What is your cancellation/reschedule policy?
You are allowed to reschedule once (24 hours or more in advance) and your deposit will remain valid. Two times and you will lose half of your deposit, three times and you will have to pay a new deposit. If you cancel/need to reschedule within 24 hours, your deposit will be forfeit.
These policies are in place to help ensure that my time is respected - it can be financially devastating as a small business if a handful people decide to ghost me in a month, so it is my sincerest hope that you will communicate with me if you need to cancel or reschedule so I have the opportunity to find someone to fill the space.
What forms of payment do you accept?
I prefer cash on the day of the appointment, but can accept Venmo, CashApp, and PayPal at this time. PayPal in particular I discourage against because of the exorbitant fees it charges, but I understand it might be the necessary payment method, especially for international clients.
How to prepare for my appointment?
I recommend being well fed, hydrated, slept and moisturized for your appointment. We have snacks and water at the studio, but feel free to bring your own. I also recommend wearing comfortable, not-too-precious dark clothing because ink can stain.
Do you accept tips?
Tipping is always appreciated and should reflect your experience. The standard in the industry is 20%. Some people choose to give more and that is amazing and highly appreciated!
What’s you aftercare process?
I offer either a traditional wrap (with an absorption pad and coban wrap) or tegaderm (the brand I most often use is Dermshield) at this time. I will happily talk through wrapping and healing options at the appointment and can provide you with a print-out guide to healing.
Do you do touchups?
Every tattoo and body heals a little differently, which to me is part of the magic of creating a piece of handmade art. That said, if you need a touchup, please don’t hesitate to reach out! Touchups are free within the first year of receiving a tattoo from me.
